i wanted to know your thoughts on consumables after last patch the healing looks balanced and good but most of the players are using fortitude shards ( even i ) because it’s easier to keep track of shield than health and not get bursted, so how usually u guys use health potions ?
With fort shards I can basically always get max value out of the use. It’s too dangerous / inconsistent to use health pots at low health. Back when health potions were a HoT it was basically like a defensive buff that you could pop to win trades.
Another factor is that with Ravah out of the meta there isn’t consistent pierce damage going out. The only pierce damage you are worried about in a regular match is high CD weapon abilities. That makes fort shards much more of a comfy pick.
2 month old thread, but ill drop in here -
I mainly use Fortitude Shards to protect my Health.
I also use Health Pots, but only on builds revolving around Rynshi´s Passive (40% Dmg reduction below 75 HP)
Here i use Health Pots because you get far more Healing from Health Pots than from Fortitude Shards (100 vs 50). Combined with the Damage reduction you usually have time to apply them in time.
In these conditions, Health Pots are more valuable than Fortitude Shards.
Regarding Healing Wards, these are not really useful in Spires atm, in Ascension they are just “ok”.
Might be more useful for premade teams that are coordinated.
Health Pots restore 125 and even now they somewhat risky to use. If you want to extract the maximum value from them you need some kind of get-out-of-jail-free card like Dahla’s crown to gain distance and heal. Even if you plan to do so you could get squashed by burst or CC.
Important thing to mention that Fortitude prevents you from being bursted due to its 25 brackets (except piercing and crushing ofc). This means that it most situations fortitude shards give you more effective HP than 50. And they stack more. And they are cheaper.
There are like 5 weapons in the game with piercing damage:
Dahla’s Dancing Blade (ability)
Irenna’s Caretaker sword (ability)
Ravah’s Talonflight Crossbow (regular attack)
Leodin’s Glint Spear (regular attack)
Rynshi’s Fury Bracers (ability)
With Ravah and Leodin being out of rotation during closed beta there are no weapons that have consistant piercing. Sure, you could run into some gimmick builds like reset crown + caretaker + dancing blade but it’s a one-trick pony that performs poorly in most situations. Without beforementioned Eternals being available Fortitude Shards will perfom better in almost all situations.
