Played the closed beta today as a fan of the genre and looking for a game to play with friends, but I don’t think the game is putting its best foot forward.

Why lock Ascension, what I assume is the main game-mode, behind a specific time frame? Is it concern about queue times? I don’t think the combat is responsive or smooth enough to carry a combat only game mode.

The economy in the spire tower mode is deeply flawed. I get making buying the same thing more expensive to encourage build variety, but before you can possibly finish climbing to the top floor you’ll have all items double the price.
-
Since money carries over between rounds, you’re always going into mismatched fights. I’ve seen enemy teams with all of their items maxed out to level 3, since I assume they just bought nothing the previous round to go into the next with extra money. This works in a round based game like CS2 where you play against the same opponents, but doesn’t make any sense with random matchmaking.
-
Maybe just lock out the same item for a few rounds instead of permanently increasing the price, or have the increased price diminish over time?
-
This also means that new players when trying to learn combat through this mode will have to learn an entirely new skill-set each round. This can be very overwhelming and force players to just slow down and read instead of playing the game

Net code feels a bit wonky. Laggy enemies will teleport around and still hit you with their abilities but will be hard to hit back.
